Recover from the Grief of Pet Loss: Anytime we lose someone we love, it is difficult. There are a number of books that help us through the loss of human loved ones. This one takes us through that inevitable phase with the death of a beloved pet. I would make a thoughtful gift for someone who has recently gone through that. You can buy it here. We used to have ferrets. Maybe a better way of saying that is "We are now between ferrets." They are truly fascinating animals. If you ever think of getting one, however, I ask that you do two things. First, read everything that you can find about them and talk to ferret owners (an amazingly enthusiastic group). Second, if you decide you want one or two (or more), consider a rescue ferret. You can find ferret rescue centers near you by doing a simple search. Ferrets remain very playful throughout their lives, so don't think you necessarily need a young one to find it thoroughly entertaining. Be prepared to give it lots of attention and training. Ferrets are quite intelligent. That means they could become easily bored without a lot of interaction and challenges.
